Membership

Imagine the 114 years of tradition, history and family memories that are the legacy of The Waegwoltic Club. Now, picture your family as part of that tradition. With four swimming pools, twelve tennis courts, recreational facilities, a 40+ boat sailing program, a full range of lessons, social activities, lifestyle programs, day camps and a full service dining room, the Waeg has delighted singles, couples and families for decades.

At The Waegwoltic Club, members become friends for a lifetime, and families share experiences that are cherished for generations. Our commitment to creating a lasting impression is the reason we have earned the distinction for being one of the best private member clubs in Canada. Rooted in 113 years of storied tradition, a fun-loving, casual lifestyle is the essence of our culture, and families are at the heart of what we do best. For our members, The Waegwoltic is their oasis in the city, a place to connect, relax, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

New Member Incentives

To make your membership even more attractive, we have bundled the Club’s entrance fee with annual dues, and created a five-year payment plan which we believe makes our fantastic Club even more affordable.

This, coupled with an extended swimming season, our twelve tennis courts-in the best condition they have been in years-and a strategic outlook to rejuvenate our waterfront property and food services, makes the Waegwoltic the perfect combination of quality, tradition and value.  And as if that weren’t enough reason to join in 2021, here is a little sample of what we offer our members:

Junior Programming:  The Waegwoltic Club has a rich tradition of offering high quality youth programs for children of all ages and abilities. Our youth aquatics program is the largest in the country, offering lessons for toddlers through to the National Lifeguard Certification; The Waeg Jr.Tennis Academy provides both recreational and competitive initiatives designed to foster a love for the game of tennis. Young sailors in search of skill development, quality coaching instruction, great competition, and a fun time on and off the water will find a special experience in our 40+ fleet sailing school. Not looking for structured lessons? We have camps, year-round fitness classes, arts and science activities, two outdoor play centres and the biggest sandbox east of the Edmonton Mall.

Adult Programming: Our adult fitness and lifestyle concept is simple - we have a beautiful venue and membership like no other; we want to create a club atmosphere where like-minded people can spend a morning or afternoon expanding their horizons in a fun and relaxed environment. Current adult offerings range from a “Roll Your Own Sushi” class, to an ongoing speaker series covering everything from personal finance to Canadian art; for your inner self, we offer yoga, reiki, phases of meditation and pilates; for the outer self, try Aquafit, tennis lessons, and adult social sailing or perhaps a workshop series covering the “101 Things Every Adult Should Know”.

Families: Since 1908, The Waegwoltic Club has emphasised the casual style and enduring elegance that is our heritage, hosting world leaders and local swim events with the same enthusiasm, and sharing the Waegwoltic’s special spirit. The Club has always maintained a very strong family focus, as evidenced by a wide variety of junior and family activities. The pricing of membership fees and dues, and ancillary services reflect a commitment to value for all family categories.  Popular family activities include: Waeg Carnival Day, Mother & Daughter Tea, movie nights on the lawn, boat races, family campfire nights and pool parties. So, take a moment to consider this offer and browse the various membership categories available to you and your family. Our little piece of Halifax’s history has sustained 112 years of lasting family memories in an environment truly unique to our club.

Please feel free to contact our CEO, David Greaves, for a personal tour, and let us show you what being a member of the Waegwoltic can mean to your family. He can be reached at the Main Office on 902.429.2822 ext. 7 or by email: david@waegwoltic.ca.
